3MSP: Challenging Nuclear Secrecy Report | 2025 Edition

In a year which marks the 80th anniversary of both the first testing and use of nuclear weapons, the Nuclear Truth Project decided to revisit the Challenging Nuclear Secrecy report we first launched in 2023. We are circulating a new edition at the 3MSP and to our members.
In a powerful testimony at the front of this new edition, Parliamentarian in the French Polynesian Assembly, Hinamoeura Morgant-Cross writes,
“The report has been a crucial resource in the global fight against nuclear secrecy…The report reinforced my advocacy efforts, providing a foundation to substantiate the injustice we face.”
Frontline and affected community members still face barriers to accessing crucial information and data about nuclear weapons testing and associated harms. With archival records hard to navigate, or deliberately withheld, shrouded in secrecy or obscured in alienating processes, nuclear secrecy remains entrenched. With fast changing world events in the couple of years since the report was first launched, there is growing concern that these barriers may be increasing.
We believe calls to challenge nuclear secrecy must remain a central focus for all involved in the ambitious work of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
